Following the July 4 unearthing of the 1976 time capsule placed in the ground at the Sequatchie County Courthouse 50 years ago, a new time capsule was buried one week later on Saturday, July 11. Sequatchie County Executive Keith Cartwright explained the time capsule included a number of photos and documents, some on discs. There were several letters written to future descendants and placed inside, he added. Executive Cartwright said a new stone marking the site of the 2076 time capsule has been ordered and will be placed on the site, next to the Veterans Memorial at the courthouse. Items removed from the 1976 time capsule are on display through July 17 inside the courthouse.
