Three vehicle wrecks were worked by law enforcement and emergency personnel last week. One of those wrecks resulted in serious injury to the driver who had to be extricated.
On Friday, July 10, a wreck took place with the driver appearing to sustain injuries, according to reports from the Dunlap Fire Department (DFD).
Law enforcement reported at 7:31 p.m., Vinson Hall, 59, was driving a 1981 Ford Mustang north on Russell Street when his vehicle left the road and struck a tree.
“The driver was trapped inside the vehicle and was bleeding from his face and arms, with injuries sustained presumably in the crash,” the report continued. “Mr. Hall was alert and able to speak to first responders at the scene throughout the incident.”
The driver was freed using Hurst battery tools prior to the arrival of Puckett EMS transport for injuries, the DFD Chief Norman Hatfield said. DPD added, Hall appeared to have an injury to his right leg.
He was cited for failure to have a driver’s license and driving with no insurance.
On Monday, July 6, the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) reported, a tractor-trailer overturned in a single-vehicle wreck while headed north on Cagle Mountain. The wreck occurred at 8:28 a.m.
The THP stated a 2016 Mack GU7 was being driven by Kenneth Clark, Jr., 46. The Mack failed to maintain its lane of travel, traveling off the right side of the road into a culvert before overturning.
Clark, wearing a seatbelt, was not injured in the wreck, the THP added.
The next day, a vehicle malfunction appeared to be the cause of a two-vehicle wreck at a busy Dunlap intersection, according to the DPD. Both drivers avoided injury from the collision taking place at the traffic light at the Highway 127/28 intersection on July 7, the triangle area.
An incident report prepared by the DPD stated at 11:04 a.m., David Weathers, 54, was driving a 2000 Ford F25, with the vehicle stopped at the traffic light awaiting it to turn green. At the same time, Cody Carter, 35, was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu south, from Main Street.
“The Malibu crossed Highway 127 onto Highway 28 and veered over the center line, hitting the Ford,” the report continued. “The driver (Carter) stated that when he was going through the intersection, he lost his power steering and hit the Ford.”
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, the report stated, and neither driver was injured. Both vehicles received what was described as disabling damage.
