  • June 6 is 4th annual Jesus in June event

    Jesus In June 2026 is planned for Saturday, June 6 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Harris Park. Music starts at 4:00 p.m. and a sermon will be presented by Jason Stevens at 6:00 p.m. There will be hotdogs, hamburgers, snowcones, face painting, bounce house/slide inflatable, axe throwing inflatable, rock climbing wall and more.

  • Cowboy Church planned for Saturday, June 13

    The next Cowboy Church of Sequatchie Valley will be held Saturday, June 13, rain or shine. Round up family and friends for a night of farm fun with horses, ranch critters and American patriotism as Cowboy Church brings Scripture to life and share God’s Word in a unique way. At 5:15 p.m. is fellowship, Chuckwagon Chow and free pony rides/meet the horses for kids 12 and under. At 6:00 p.m. is Cowboy church service (mounted drill team, American tribute, live music, powerful message), followed by a separate non-profit charity event of boot stompin’ friends and family fun. A fundraiser dinner to support HHMP (the Honduras Horsemanship Mission Project) will begin at 7:15, and at 7:45 is an old-fashioned barn dance, complete with instruction.   • June 14 is Cookston Cemetery Decoration

    Decoration Day at Cookston Cemetery will be held Sunday, June 14 from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. The day is annually observed on the second Sunday in June. Everyone is invited to attend, especially those with friends and family buried there. If unable to attend, send contributions to Christy Pickett Lewis, 1265 Elm Street, Dunlap, TN 37327.

  • A Mother’s Heart support group to meet

    A Mothers Heart, a support group for mothers, grandmothers and aunts of prodigal children, is held on the first and third Monday of each month from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Lab, 366 Cleveland Avenue in Pikeville. This group is a confidential and non-judgmental place to give mothers, grandmothers, sisters and aunts the hope, comfort and encouragement to help heal the broken hearts of moms whose children are abusing alcohol or drugs (or any other addiction); have been experiencing self-abuse behaviors (i.e.) eating disorders, cutting, etc.; experience gender identity; struggle with mental illness; or is/have been estranged from the family and/or their faith.   • Seq. Valley Honor Guard meets June 16

    The Sequatchie Valley Veterans Honor Guard is seeking new members to be a part of its organization. The Honor Guard provides free services such as 21-gun salute, folding of the flag, playing of Taps and standing watch at the casket during visitation. Their goal is to provide a full military funeral service to all military personnel who desire one. They also provide flag ceremonies for churches, schools and organizations. The guard meets at the Kimball City Hall every third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. All veterans are welcome.     Legal Aid of East Tennessee (LAET) will conduct local client intake interview sessions in Dunlap at the Sequatchie County Chancery (Old) Courthouse on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. CST. Legal Aid of East Tennessee is a free service for low income and senior (60+) Tennesseans with civil (non-criminal) legal issues including consumer, housing, veteran’s benefits and government benefits issues such as food stamps, unemployment benefits and TennCare.   • Fredonia community plans June 23 meeting
