A vehicle crossed over into the path of an oncoming Freightliner on Cagle Mountain June 29, claiming the life of the driver and injuring another person, the Tennessee Highway Patrol reported. The wreck occurred at 6696 State Route 8 on Cagle Mountain. In the past few weeks, three people have lost their lives, and many others have been seriously injured.
Timothy Seth Daniels, 29, of Sparta, was Wednesday’s victim.
The THP reported Daniels was driving a 2006 Honda Civic south on State Route 8 at 5:50 a.m. near the Cagle Community Church when he failed to maintain his lane of travel, the incident report continued, crossing the center lines and striking a 2019 Freightliner Cascadia driven by Danny R. Payne.
Payne, of Georgia, received unspecified injuries, the report stated. There was no specific report on what may have caused the Civic to cross into the opposite lane.
The highway was closed for several hours while emergency personnel worked the accident scene. Agencies responding included Cagle Volunteer Fire Department, Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Office, Sequatchie County Rescue Squad, Piney Volunteer Fire Department, Dunlap Fire Department, Puckett EMS, and THP.
