Heritage Farm Program to document county’s history

The Sequatchie County Heritage Farms Program, designed to recognize farms in the county owned by the same family for at least 100 years, will have its kickoff program on Friday, March 1 at 10:00 a.m. The event is being held at 2671 East Valley Road, announced committee members John Harmon and Sheldon Barker

“Our goal is to highlight historical farms in Sequatchie County, similar to the state Century Farm program,” Harmon explained. “We formed a committee and came up with the guidelines for selections. So far, we’ve come up with approximately 40 farms that would be eligible, if they choose to participate. There may be more than this right now, and more could be eligible in upcoming years when they reach 100 years.”
