Lorene Camp
Lorene Camp, 79, of Dunlap, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 3, 2021. She was a member of the Highway 28 Church of God, where she attended faithfully until her illness prevented.
Lorene worked many years in local textile factories and retired from her daily work at Tecumseh Manufacturing in Dunlap. Everyone who was close to Lorene, knew the word “retired” was not in her being.
In her later years, she was a special caretaker and housekeeper to many wonderful elderly friends, whom she loved and took care of tenderly. She loved working outdoors in the yard and taking care of the lawn with her zero-turn mower, of which she thought was the greatest thing ever! She loved her many pets (both cats and dogs) throughout her entire life and took care of them just as well as her family. Lorene enjoyed quilting and just fixing things in general. If you ask her what her hobby would be, she would say, “outside doing something”. It was never considered work to her, but enjoyment.
She kept her family close and made sure all were taught the Bible and ways of the Lord. She took her children to church until they became adults of their own. She will be greatly missed among her family, friends, and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, James L. “Zeke” Camp; parents, Richard and Julie Harvey; brothers, Clark, J.C., Denny, and Sherbert Harvey; and sisters, Vena Neighbors, Imogene Williams, Della Smith and Ella Ledford-Davis.
She is survived by her three children, Eddie (Teresa) Camp of Murfreesboro, Tonja Fulkerson of Dunlap, and Stacey Camp of Red Bank; daughter-in-law, Christina Camp of Cleveland; son-in-law, John H. Fulkerson of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Tara Coleman of Murfreesboro, Josh (Jordan) Camp of Signal Mountain, John Chandler “Chan” Fulkerson of Dunlap, Alyssa Fine of Cleveland, Erica Camp of Chattanooga, Catherine (Stephen) Nolte and Elizabeth (Chase) Sego, all of Cleveland; great-grandchildren, Payton Coleman of Murfreesboro, Benjamin and Megan Ledford of Signal Mountain, Judah, Evelyn, Owen, Valerie, and Ezekiel “Zeke” Fine of Cleveland; great-great-grandson, Finnley Ledford; sisters, Betty Jo Smith, Lorece Ward, Juanita Arlene Harvey; brother, Bobby Harvey; many loving nieces and nephews, caring neighbors, and a host of wonderful friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 6 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Shane Nivens officiating. Burial was in Richard Harvey Cemetery on Lewis Chapel Mountain.
