Barbara Jean Lockhart

Barbara Jean Lockhart, 82, of Dunlap was called to her heavenly home on July 25, 2013. 

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was born to Cue and Leta Wilson on November 1, 1930 in Strawberry Plains, Tennessee and moved to Dunlap during her high school days. She graduated from Sequatchie County High School, where she met the love of her life, Ward Lockhart. Together, they raised three children, Wanda Childs, Bobby Lockhart and Tim Lockhart. She was blessed with six grandchildren, Michael and Steven Dennis, Matt and Cody Lockhart and Will and Rachel Lockhart; seven great-grandchildren, Evan and Ethan Dennis, Sidney and Jesyca Dennis, Taylor and Ike Lockhart and Lakyn Lockhart.

She was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church for numerous years and of the ensemble. She enjoyed her role as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her loving family. She planned and detailed many of the holidays and special occasions throughout the years that created traditional bonds with great pleasure for her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Ward Lockhart; sons, Bobby and Tim Lockhart; parents, Cue and Leta Wilson; brothers, Kenneth and Lynn Wilson; and sister, Betty Stewart.

Survivors include her daughter, Wanda (Charlie) Childs; special daughters-in-law, Dee Lockhart and Debbie Lockhart; sister, Evelyn White; and brothers, Glenn and Danny Wilson.

A celebration of her life was held Saturday, July 27 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Tom Tucker officiating. Burial was in Chapel Hill Cemetery.
