Jeff B. Johnson, Vice-Mayor of Dunlap and member of the Dunlap City Commission, passed away unexpectedly Monday, October 8. Johnson, 46, was Senior Vice-President and Chief Lending Office of Mountain Valley Bank and was active in a number of community organizations. Sequatchie County High School senior Lacey Weaver was crowned 2018 Football Homecoming Queen on Friday, September 28. She was escorted by her father, Chris. Homecoming ceremonies included a parade, competitions between classes, and the Indian football win over Smith County.

McDonald’s in Dunlap plans inside renovations in April 2019, franchise owner-operator Brad Moore confirmed. The work is part of $168 million being spent by McDonald’s in the state for renovations, along with major contributions by each franchise owner or owner-operator. Dunlap City Commissioners unanimously approved the first of three required ordinance readings to set the 2018-2019 budget, which would include a 9-cent property tax increase.
