Roger Franklin O’Neal

It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of Roger Franklin O’Neal, who was born January 25, 1947 in Shelbyville, Tennessee and died on June 8, 2025 at NHC Healthcare, Sequatchie in Dunlap, Tennessee. Roger was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and husband. He will be deeply missed.

Mr. O’Neal was preceded in death by his mother, Louise O’Neal of Chattanooga, Tennessee; his father, Dewey O’Neal of Fresno, California; his sister, Nancy Hester of Chattanooga; and his brother, Jackie O’Neal of Magnolia, Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry O’Neal of Dunlap; his son, Matthew (Lisa) O’Neal of Hughesville, Maryland; his daughter, Wendy (Lee) Owens of Chatsworth, Georgia; his sister, Dorothy Ann Paschall of Morganton, North Carolina; his stepsons, Brian and Travis Farley of Dunlap; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and step-grandchildren.

Mr. O’Neal was a veteran of the United States Navy and served on the USS Lynde McCormick (DDG-8) destroyer from 1966 to 1973, with two tours in Vietnam. In 1971, he served in the Senior Navy Advisor Office in Saigon.

No service will be held for Roger Franklin O’Neal at this time, but please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.
