The Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the discovery of a body found deep in the woods of the Flat Mountain Road area of Fredonia Mountain, reported Sheriff Bill Phillips.
“There is reason to believe this is likely to be the remains of a recently reported missing person, Morgan Davis,” Sheriff Phillips stated, “however, due to the condition of the body, investigators are unable to make a positive identification at this time.”
The woman’s body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Nashville to make a positive identification and cause of death,. The Sheriff added in a June 27 statement, the cause of death was not known at that time.
According to previous reports form the Sheriff’s Department, Davis was reported missing the to Sheriff’s Department on June 25. She was last seen on Fredonia Mountain Road in the Deerhead community of the county on June 3, stated the report.
