Three new to School Board, one on Commission

 Pending official certification, Sequatchie County will have three new members of the Board of Education and one new to the County Commission following results on Election Day, August 1.

 For School Board District 1, joining will be Jerry S. Snyder Jr, who gained 137 votes. Others running were Vahan Chertavian (63 votes), Jeff Harrell (63), and Angela Maria Snyder (35).     

The District 3 winner for the board was Rebecca Whittenburg, who received 91 votes to 81 for incumbent Greg Dawson.

Another new school board member will be Melissa M. Mackey in District 9. She gained 180 votes to 119 for incumbent Shelli K. Dodson.

Board members running without opposition were Samuel F. Hudson, District 5, and Felisha Snyder, District 7. Assessor of Property James W. Condra also ran without opposition.

Linda Marie Lewandowski will represent District 1 on the Sequatchie County Commission after gaining 167 votes, to 137 for Gary L. Williams.

State and Federal Primary races were also held. Gaining the majority of votes in Sequatchie County in the U.S. Senate Democratic Primary was Gloria Johnson, 90 votes, followed by Marquita Bradshaw, 40; Lola Denise Brown, 17; and Civil Miller-Watkins, one. For U.S. Senate in the Republican Primary, Marsha Blackburn gained 1,376 local votes to 119 for Tres Wittum.

 Victoria Isabel Broderick, unopposed, had 137 county votes in the U.S. House District 4 Democratic Primary. Scott DesJarlais had 988 county votes in the U.S. House Republican Primary, followed by Thomas E. Davis, 359; and Joshua James, 91.

In the TN Senate District 10 Democratic Primary, unopposed Missy Crutchfield had 140 votes. Todd Gardenhire gained 1,104 county votes in the TN Senate District 10 Republican Primary with Edward LeCompte gaining 305 votes.

Brittany Lynn Warfel, unopposed, had 139 votes in the TN House District 31 Democratic Primary. Ron Travis led in Sequatchie with 960 votes in the TN House District 31 Republican Primary. Richard W. Smith had 508 votes.

State and federal primary races were still to be determined Thursday evening, August 1, pending results from their entire areas.
