Our Story
Valley Publishing Company, Inc., doing business as The Bledsonian-Banner and The Dunlap Tribune, is a locally owned newspaper publishing and commercial printing company serving Bledsoe and Sequatchie counties.
The Dunlap Tribune traces its roots back to 1889 and The Bledsonian-Banner traces its roots back to 1891, making both among the oldest continuously operating newspapers in the region. Over more than a century, the newspapers have chronicled the people, events, and milestones that shaped the community—from early automobiles and World War II homecomings to business growth, tourism, and local government.
Valley Publishing Company was owned and operated for over four decades by Robert W. and Amy Sue Dodson Hale. Under their leadership, the newspaper evolved from hand-set type and Linotype mechanical typesetting systems to the modern desktop publishing.
Today, the company is owned by Wade and Sandy Dodson, continuing a strong family legacy in community journalism. Sandy serves as publisher/editor of both newspapers, bringing decades of experience in advertising, reporting, design, and photography. Valley Publishing remains committed to providing reliable local news, quality printing services, and preserving the history of the communities it serves.
