Sequatchie County students, from second through eighth grades, visited the Ohio Historical Archaeological Society’s Traveling Museum February 3-4, covering life hundred of years ago through modern events and culture. The special event included triumphs such as space travel and inventions, along with tragedies from wars to 9/11.
Explorers Columbus, and later, Lewis and Clark were covered, as were the American Revolution, Civil War, World War II, and Vietnam. Inventors Edison and Tesla had exhibits and the Civil Rights Movement was featured.
From modern times, the students saw special features on Hollywood movies and other more recent culture, plus the latest technology. Another exhibit drawing the attention of many students was a display of the United States presidents.
The museum event was held at the multi-purpose building, giving students plenty of room to move between exhibits. The stop was the first at a Tennessee school for the Traveling Museum, which has been featured in 19 states across the country.
Society members stated the Sea to Shining Sea Tour is an exciting way for students to take part in the celebration of America’s 250th.
Griffith and Sequatchie County Middle School staff expressed appreciation for the Griffith Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) for setting up the event for the students. (More photos page 10.)
