A tractor trailer struck another vehicle and left Highway 111, striking parked vehicles at a residence and a power pole on January 9, according to the Dunlap Fire Department (DFD) report.
Emergency personnel from numerous departments were called to Cagle Mountain at 6:08 a.m. for a report of the tractor trailer wreck, with the vehicle on its side. The accident took place approximately one mile from the Cagle Mountain Trading Post, said DFD Chief Norman Hatfield.
The Chief stated the truck and a car collided causing the truck to overturn, sliding off the road and striking a three-phase power pole and parked vehicles, before coming to a rest in the front yard of a residence.
Sequachee Valley Electric Cooperative workers arrived at the scene and turned off power to the lines so firefighters could assist the truck driver from his cab. Many residents in the area were without electricity as a result of the accident, noted Chief Hatfield. SVEC staff reported a new pole had to be installed at the scene.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol worked the accident, and their report was not available at press time.
Others responding the Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Department, and Puckett EMS, who transported the truck driver. No other injuries were reported, Chief Hatfield stated.
