Riders provide love and care to children
May is Foster Care Awareness Month
Webster’s Dictionary defines foster care as “a temporary, court-monitored service provided by States to promote the safety, permanency, and well-being of children and youth.” And that’s what Casey and Brittany Rider of Dunlap wanted to do – provide a safe place for children while they waited to reunite with their parents.
“I was first introduced to foster care in 2009,” said Brittany, “when my mom and dad became foster parents to take care of three siblings in the foster care system. When I married Casey, we decided we wanted to help children and give them a safe place to stay where they could be loved and cared for during that transition between leaving their home and returning back to their family.”
