Deakins makes her own stitch in time celebrating her 100th birthday

“A stitch in time saves nine” well, for Minnie Lee Deakins her stitches throughout time have led her to reach her 100th birthday. This nationally known quilter and Sequatchie County’s very first special education teacher, celebrated her 100th birthday on April 21 with a party at Dunlap First Baptist Church.

“She enjoyed her party,” said her daughter, Nancy. “She had cake and punch, nuts and mints. She was happy to see so many people there.”
