Layne retires from local post office

After 36 years of serving the public in the United States Post Office in Dunlap, Marie Layne has retired.

“I want to watch my grandkids grow up, spend time with my family, and travel,” Layne said.

Layne began working at the local post office on January 2, 1988, and continued to January 26, 2024. When she was hired by postmaster Mary Ruth Tyner, stamps were 22 cents each and addresses used were Routes 1, 2, 3, and 4 plus one HCR route.
