A Dunlap man was arrested following an out of control fire on April 1 prompting law enforcement and firefighters being called to the scene, the Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Department reported. Arrested was James Clinton Dixon, 57.
According to an affidavit, emergency personnel were dispatched to Laurel Drive at 1:49 p.m. for the fire. Law enforcement arrived and observed two burn sites on the property with the landowner, Dixon, nowhere in site, the report continued.
“I also observed that the fire had spread to two adjacent properties putting several occupied homes in danger and coming within approximately 30 feet of one home,” according to a deputy’s statement at the scene.
Law enforcement were reportedly told Dixon had been seen on his property earlier in the day and was burning a large bonfire on March 30.
Dixon was charged with reckless burning and reckless endangerment. He is scheduled to appear in court April 17.
