Sandra Bauer Jackson

Sandra Bauer Jackson, 80, of Franklin, Tennessee, passed away with her loving family by her side on Saturday, September 21, 2024. Born on January 20, 1944 in New Brighton, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Richard E. Bauer and Joan Sponeybarger Bauer.

Sandy grew up in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Kittanning High School. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. It was during these early years that Sandy met the love of her life, Johnny Dean Jackson. They married and built a beautiful life together, raising their three children in Sandy Hook, Connecticut.

A devoted mother and wife, Sandy later found her calling as a teacher, where she touched the lives of countless children with special learning needs. Her dedication, compassion, and genuine love for her “kids” left a lasting impression on all who knew her. In retirement, she was very creative and pursued many hobbies and crafts until she found a special passion for quilting, crocheting, and, most importantly, spending time with her family, who brought her immense joy.

Sandy leaves behind her beloved husband, Dean Jackson, of Franklin. Their upcoming wedding anniversary on October 2 would have marked 59 years of a love-filled marriage. She is deeply missed by her children, David (Bethany) Jackson of Plain City, Ohio; Susan (Steven) Luzzi of Avon, Connecticut; and Marianne (Samuel) Matz of Framingham, Massachusetts. Her memory will also be cherished by her adored grandchildren, Trey (Carli) Vincent, Austin Vincent, Colin Vincent, Eli Matz, Julia Matz, William Jackson, Benjamin Jackson, and Reed Jackson.

Sandy is also survived by her brothers, Richard (Theresa) Bauer and Gary (Jovelyn) Bauer, both of Pennsylvania, as well as many special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Christian (Brenda) Bauer and her brother-in-law, Norman (Teresa) Jackson.

A graveside service will be held at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Dunlap at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, where family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate her life.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice in her memory, reflecting Sandy’s lifelong commitment to helping those in need.

Her beautiful smile, wonderful sense of humor, and kind, loving spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Until we meet again.
