Erika Martha Wright
Erika Martha Wright, 75, a resident of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, July 22, 2024, surrounded by her family and close friends. Erika belonged to the Sawyer Missionary Baptist Church on Signal Mountain.
Erika was born on July 25, 1948 and raised in Augsburg, Germany. While finishing up school, she met and fell in love with an American soldier whom she went on to marry. Soon after marrying her husband, she bravely packed up and moved from Germany to America to start a family in Tennessee. Erika managed the Handy Andy Gas & Convenience store on Signal Mountain for many years before beginning her career at the Signal Mountain Pharmacy. She worked for over 20 years before retiring at the age of 72. Erika was a lover of all dogs, especially Dachshunds.
Erika was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Weldon Wright; and her parents, Theodor and Lutzie (Tauthert) Eucker of Augsburg, Germany.
She is survived by her brother, Wolfgang (Irmtare) Glaeser of Augsburg, Germany, and her two sons, Gene (Morgan) Wright of Signal Mountain and Ritchie Wright of Dunlap; her two grandsons, Nolan (Autumn & Axel) Wright and Anthony Wright, both of Signal Mountain; and several other extended family members from both Signal Mountain and Germany.
Erika chose to leave this life peacefully and quietly, so per request, there will be no funeral or memorial services, instead, she wished for her family to pour her ashes into the Atlantic Ocean off the southern coast of Florida in hopes of her floating and finding her way back home to Germany.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Cremation Center of Chattanooga, 1345 Hickory Valley Road, Chattanooga, TN 37343.
