Betty Mae Sweatt

Betty Mae Sweatt, 93, of Pikeville, died Tuesday, July 16, 2024.

She was a member of Stephens Chapel United Methodist Church.  She played the piano there for many years.  She had over 50 years of perfect attendance.  She worked with the youth of the church, as well as the youth of the community through 4H. She was a member of the Sunny Side Home Demonstration Club and worked with the Bledsoe County Fair Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Sweatt; daughter, Dona Sweatt; parents, Plez and Ruth Graham; and siblings, F.B. Graham, J.P. Graham, Olena Morgan, Tom Graham and Pauline Heiss.

She is survived by her children, Benny (Pat) Sweatt and Terry (Mary) Sweatt, both of Pikeville; grandchildren, Kenneth (Cindy) Sweatt, John (Beth) Sweatt, Vicki (Scottie Hall) Sweatt, Matthew (Jamie) Sweatt and Mark (Michelle) Sweatt; eight great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; sister, Ruth Ellen Tate of Whitwell; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held Friday, July 19, at Stephens Chapel UMC. Burial was in John M. Hixson Cemetery.
