Alan Lawrence Bessey, 79, of Dunlap, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loved ones, on Sunday, November 29, 2015.
He was a native of New Jersey, a veteran of the United States Air Force and a retired air traffic controller (Federal Aviation Administration) Atlanta Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lillian Bessey of New Jersey; two brothers, Charles Bessey, Kansas City, Missouri, Roland Bessey, Virginia Beach, Virginia; and a nephew, Ric Bessey.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Winna Greene Bessey; three daughters, Lynn Bessey Frost (Mark) of Sanford, Florida, Alisa Bessey Whited of Dunlap, and Karen Bessey Reece (Tom) of Madison, Alabama; brother, Jerry Bessey (Pat) of New Jersey; six grandchildren, Rachel Frost, Emily Whited Raines (Brad), Chase Whited (Sasha), Sydney Whited, Jackson Reece and Shelby Reece; two great-grandchildren, Aspen and Charleigh Raines; and several nieces and nephews.
Also special to him were J.C. Cookston and Gene Wilson.
There will be no services held.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Sequatchie County Cancer Network or the Wounded Warrior Project.
