Claudia McDowell Tate, 84, of Dunlap died in a Chattanooga hospital on Sunday, April 13, 2014. She retired from her own restaurant, Claudia’s Restaurant, after owning and operating it for several years.
Her parents, Sam and Ethel Mathis McDowell; sisters, Flossie Narramore and Violet Lively; brothers, Odis McDowell, Otto McDowell, Greer McDowell and Thomas McDowell, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Smith of Dunlap; sons, Harold Tate of Madison and Ronnie Tate of Dunlap; brother, R.J. McDowell of South Carolina; three grandchildren, Marlin Smith, Mindy Tennille and Brittany Tate; two great-grandchildren, Evan and Ethan Dennis; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 15 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Terry Barker officiating. Burial was in Cookston Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Randy McDowell, David McDowell, Earl McDowell, Steve Farley, Donnie Johnson and Ronnie Long.
Honorary pallbearers were Avon Farris and Debbie Lasater.
