Gene Studer

Gene D. “Cy” Studer, 77, of Dunlap went home to his Lord on Monday, December 2, 2013 at Hospice Care Center in Chattanooga after a brief illness.

He was born September 21, 1936 in Sugarcreek, Ohio and was the son of the late Walter and Cora Hostetler Studer. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother to his family and an esteemed friend of many in the Dunlap community where the family has resided for the past 52 years. He was retired from Sequatchie Valley Coal and was the co-owner of Cumberland Transport Company for 31 years. He attended Covenant of Christ Church and served in the Tennessee Air National Guard. He was an avid car restorer and member of the Dunlap Cruisers.

He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Studer.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Perkins Studer; daughter, Andrea (Charles) Gilbert; granddaughter, Lyndsey (Caleb) Johnson; great-grandson, Charlestyn Johnson; sister, Anna Lee Studer, all of Dunlap; numerous cousins in Tennessee and Ohio communities.

Funeral services were held Saturday,  December 7 in the funeral home chapel with Pastors Deana Lynn Tripp and Brandon Gates officiating. Burial was in Sequatchie County Memorial Gardens.

In  lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416.
