Roger Easterly

Roger Lee Easterly, 54, a lifelong resident of Dunlap, went home to be with the Lord, late Tuesday afternoon, May 21, 2013.

He was a well-known carpenter,  loved by many and loved to make them laugh. He had a passion for drag racing and was an avid gardener. His hobbies included being a mechanic, dancing and shooting pool. He was a loving father and loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eugene and Lillie Mae Easterly and Charlie and Mildred Brown.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Cheryll Smith Easterly; one daughter, Christina (Rodney); one son, Daren (Jackie); four grandchildren, Colton, Tyler, McKinley and Leland; parents, Charles M. Easterly Sr. and Hallie G. Easterly; brothers, Bo (Denise), Leroy and David (Misty); sisters, Kay Easterly, Michaelene (Kirk) Rogers, Joyce (Ben) Hardwood, Janice Easterly, Charlotte (John) O’Barr; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 24 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Dan Hamby officiating. Burial was in Davis Cemetery with special music by Daniel and Kirk Rogers.

Serving as pallbearers were fellow drag racers.
