Leon Stewart
Leon Stewart, 87, a lifelong resident of Sequatchie County, died Saturday night, February 4, 2012.
He was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church for over 70 years and served in the United States Navy during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Stewart; two sons, Joseph and Randy Stewart; parents, Hugh and Winnie Stewart; two sisters, Adeline Rodriguez and Evelyn Kyle; and brother, Joe Stewart.
He is survived by a son, Jamie (Charlotte) Stewart of Signal Mountain; grandson, Shaun (Jennifer) Stewart; great-grandchildren, Desirae, Jarrett and Skyler Stewart and Jayde Durham; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Tuesday, February 7 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tom Tucker and Rev. Terry Barker officiating.
Burial was in Chapel Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Chapel Hill United Methodist Church building fund.
