Jimmy Ray Pope

Jimmy Ray Pope, 71, of Pikeville died at his home on Wednesday morning, August 24, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church in Bledsoe County.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Nellie Pope; two brothers, Billy (Jean) Pope and Bobby Hatfield; and one sister, Barbara (Cecil) Wolfe.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Pope; daughter, Michelle (Richard) Harvey of Pikeville; son, Mynatt (Felicia) Pope of Dunlap; brothers, Don (Doris) Pope and Reuben (Ina Ruth) Pope, both of Dunlap; sister-in-law, Carolyn Hatfield of Dunlap; four grandchildren, Chasi Johnson, Samuel Johnson, Lexi Pope, all of Dunlap and Lashay Harvey of Pikeville; one great-granddaughter, Sarah Sims of Dunlap; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 27 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Virgil Powell, Rev. Bill Cross and Rev. Bill Wolfe officiating.

Burial was in Collier Cemetery.
