Hershel Roy Cunningham

Hershel Roy Cunningham, 92, of Dunlap died in a Chattanooga hospital, Wednesday, April 20, 2011.

He was retired from the U.S. Army after serving 23 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Fricks Cunningham; his parents, Robert Lee and Ada Belle Ewton Cunningham; brothers, J.D. “Dan” Cunningham, George Lee Cunningham, Homer Cunningham and William Herbert Cunningham; and sister, Ruby Harmon.

Survivors include his daughter and caregiver, Gloria Welch of Dunlap; son, Jerry (Sharon) Cunningham; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Howard Cunningham of Dunlap; sisters, Mary Francisco of Cordova and Minnie Mae Combs of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 23 in the funeral home chapel.

Burial was in Old Union Cemetery.
