E. Bruce Hamilton

E. Bruce Hamilton, 75, of Chattanooga died unexpectedly at his home Friday, January 21, 2011.

He was a very personable individual and he knew an enormous number of people in the Chattanooga and Sequatchie Valley areas. Everyone who knew him considered him to be a wonderful and loving friend. He was a gifted pianist who played at many organizations’ gatherings and banquets, as well as for weddings and receptions.

He served several years as pianist for New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Sequatchie County where he was a member for many years. He was a member of Alhambra Shrine, Scottish Rite, New Hope Lodge #583, and Eastern Star Chapter #340. He retired from American Manufacturing and worked 17 years as Deputy Court Clerk for Hamilton County General Sessions Court.

He graduated from Sequatchie County High School and played the piano for the alumni banquet for several years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Gertrude Smith Hamilton; and a sister, Norma Jane Hamilton.

He is survived by a sister, Alberta Sims (Charlie) Raburn of Chattanooga; niece and nephew, Michael (Sherry) Sims of Shelbyville and Myrna Sims of Chattanooga; great niece and nephew, Blake (Beth) Sims and Allyson (James) Abbott; great-great nephews, Cole, Raine, Storm and Rivers Sims.

Per Bruce’s request, there was no visitation at the funeral home, no flowers and a very timely graveside service at Chapel Hill Cemetery with Bro. Jonathan Richie officiating.
