Malcolm Joseph Burgess

    Malcolm Joseph Burgess, 73, of Dunlap died Friday, January 7, 2011.

    He was a member of Hopewell Road Baptist Church and served as a military policeman during the Korean Conflict.

    He was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers, Ida Burgess Smith, Jewell Burgess Shrader, Hazel Burgess Gough, James William Burgess, Beulah Burgess Prigmore, Julia Ann Burgess Peters, Marie Burgess Smith, J.D. Burgess, J.A. Burgess, Josey Burgess and Vincent Burgess.

    He is survived by his wife, Shelby Burgess; three sons, Barry Lee and Mikel Joseph, both of Dunlap and Robert Allen (Shelley) Burgess of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Trevor, Chelsea, Marissa, Brody, Bentley, Sloane, Deklan and Lachlan Burgess; sister, Melba Jean Burgess Roberts; brothers, Sib Burgess Jr., of Lancing and Mitchell Douglas Burgess of San Antonio, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services were held Sunday, January 9 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dennis Boston officiating. Burial was in Sequatchie County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
