Shortly before noon on June 17, the driver of a tractor-trailer struck a utility pole at State Route 28 and Press Pickett Road in the Daus community with the driver escaping injury, the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) reported.
The THP stated Bryan Baumgart, 52, was traveling south on Highway 28 in a 2017 Peterbuilt, at the Press Pickett Road intersection.
The Peterbuilt failed to maintain its lane of travel, traveled off the right side of the roadway into a ditch, struck a utility pole, and overturned, stated the report.
An officer at the scene reported a pole with telephone lines was damaged upon impact.
Baumgart, wearing a seatbelt, was not injured, the THP reported. A due care violation is pending.
Traffic was rerouted from the scene to West Valley Road while clean-up continued. Emergency personnel arriving at the scene included, THP, the Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Office, the Sequatchie County Rescue Squad, Sequatchie Emergency Management, and Puckett EMS.
