Two Signal Mountain men were charged with theft of property and aggravated burglary following their arrest on March 23. Taken into custody were Chase Cornwell, 23, and Kevin Wright, 35.
According to an affidavit from the Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement was working with the 12th Judicial District Drug Task Force on a narcotics search warrant.
“After the search was completed, two individuals were detained, Cornwell and Wright,” the report stated.
Cornwell was suspected of being involved with the theft of an ATV on March 5 and a burglary the next day, the affidavit continued.
The defendant reportedly told law enforcement he took the ATV and stripped it, leaving it behind a business on Signal Mountain. The vehicle was then recovered by county deputies.
Cornwell also admitted driving Wright to a residence, where Wright reportedly entered and took several items with Cornwell helping load.
“Mr. Cornwell was in possession of the key to the ATV and the winch that was on the ATV, and was also in possession of some of the items taken from the residence,” the affidavit concluded.
Both suspects were denied bond.
