    VFW meets on third Tuesday of each month

    VFW Post 5772, Dunlap, holds its monthly meetings on the third Tuesday of each month. The executive committee meets at 5:00 p.m. and the general business meeting starts at 6:00. Meetings are held in the Legion Hall on Fredonia Road. All members are encouraged to attend. Veterans interested in joining the VFW or learning more about the organization and the benefits of membership are encouraged to attend a general business meeting.     The annual meeting of the Sequatchie County Fair will be held Thursday, March 22 at 6:00 p.m. at the Fair building on Heard Street. This meeting is open to the public and everyone is invited to attend and lend support to the county fair.

    Sequatchie County Friends of the Library is having a book sale, March 22-24 at the Fair building, 103 Heard Street in Dunlap. Thursday and Friday hours are 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A sneak preview sale is open to Friends’ members only on Wednesday, March 21 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.

    Seq. Valley Head Start taking applications

    Sequatchie Valley Head Start is now taking applications for the 2018-2019 school year. Head Start is a comprehensive child development program serving children ages three to five and their families. The following information is needed when applying: income verification, birth certificate, immunization records, health insurance information and disability information, if applicable.     Commodities to be distributed in Sequatchie

    The Southeast Tennessee Human Resource Agency will be distributing USDA commodities to eligible Sequatchie County residents on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the SETHRA office in Dunlap. Recipients must have a card to receive commodities on this day. Call the office at 949-2191 to make an appointment to get a card until Wednesday, March 14, 2018. Proof of income for all household members or proof of category eligibility must be provided to get a commodity card. Eligibility is based on total household income, not more than the State-established maximum percentage of the poverty line for the appropriate household size or category eligibility. In accordance with federal law and USDA policy, SETHRA is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability.

    Cartwright First Baptist plans weekend events
