  • Community band meets

    Sequatchie Valley Community Band practice is held the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the middle school band room. This is a concert band and open to anyone in the valley or surrounding area who plays a wind or percussion instrument. All experience levels are welcome.     Boy Scout Troop 33 will be holding a tailgate fundraiser on Friday, September 20 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Tractor Supply parking lot to raise funds for summer camp and other activities throughout the year. Menu includes hamburger, chips, drink and dessert for $5. Tickets can be purchased prior to the event at Dunlap United Methodist Church or the day of the event at Tractor Supply.     The Bledsoe County High School Class of 1989 is holding its 30-year class reunion on Saturday, September 21 at the Bledsoe County Complex (city hall) at 5:00 p.m. The City of Pikeville Fire Department will be catering the dinner and the cost is $20 per person.     The Southeast Tennessee Human Resource Agency will be distributing USDA commodities to eligible Sequatchie County residents on Friday, September 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the SETHRA office in Dunlap. You must have a card in order to receive commodities on this day. Call the office at 949-2191 to make an appointment to get a card until Wednesday, September 18. Proof of income for all household members or proof of category eligibility is required to get your commodity card. Eligibility is based on total household income not in excess of the State-established maximum percentage of the poverty line for the appropriate household size or category eligibility. In accordance with federal law and USDA policy, SETHRA is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability. T37S38

  • Co-ed softball for toy drive

    A co-ed softball tournament to benefit the Dunlap Lions Club Christmas toy drive is scheduled for Saturday, September 28. Entry is a toy with a minimum $10 value per player. There is a two-game guarantee and 70-minute time limit. Additional donations of toys or canned food items are also welcome.
