    Cartwright Church of God is having an indoor/outdoor yard sale, August 1-3, beginning at 8:00 a.m. each day. Food and drinks will be served. There will be craft supplies, clothing for children and extra-large men and women, prom dresses, tools, DVDs, collectibles, etc. The church is located at 1773 Cartwright Loop in Whitwell.

    Sequatchie Youth Soccer Association will hold fall registration on Saturday, August 3 and 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Griffith Elementary in the lobby. SYSA is a recreational soccer league for ages 4-18. Fee is $65 for the first child with $5 sibling discounts. A $10 discount is offered for players returning from last season with their uniform. For more information, call Joe at 949-2022 or go to the association’s Facebook page.T26-32S27-32

    A reunion of the descendants of Henry Miller and Martha Pickett Layne is planned for Saturday, August 15 at Mountain Valley Bank’s Summit Room (17114 Rankin Avenue, Dunlap). Doors open at 11:00 a.m., followed by gather and sign-in at 11:30, lunch at noon, and visitation from 12:45 to 2:00 p.m. Clean-up will be from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Families with last names ending in A-G are to bring a meat and drink for their families plus a fruit or salad dish; H-O can bring meat and drink plus appetizer or vegetable dish; P-Z can bring meat and drink plus a dessert.   • Senator Bowling holds meeting

    State Senator Janice Bowling (R-Tullahoma) will hold an August town hall meeting in Sequatchie County on Tuesday, August 27 at the courthouse in Dunlap from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. In her town hall meetings, Bowling offers assistance with state services and listens to concerns that citizens have for the State Legislature.
