Cartwright Church of God is having an indoor/outdoor yard sale, August 1-3, beginning at 8:00 a.m. each day. Food and drinks will be served. There will be craft supplies, clothing for children and extra-large men and women, prom dresses, tools, DVDs, collectibles, etc. The church is located at 1773 Cartwright Loop in Whitwell.

Sequatchie Youth Soccer Association will hold fall registration on Saturday, August 3 and 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Griffith Elementary in the lobby. SYSA is a recreational soccer league for ages 4-18. Fee is $65 for the first child with $5 sibling discounts. A $10 discount is offered for players returning from last season with their uniform. For more information, call Joe at 949-2022 or go to the association’s Facebook page.T26-32S27-32

Daus Baptist Church will celebrate Homecoming on Sunday, August 4. Sunday school begins at 10:00 a.m., followed by worship service at 11:00. The Gaston Family will be the special singers and Bro. Tony Cates will be preaching the worship service. Lunch will follow. T30S31

Ewtonville Baptist Church is hosting “MAD Live Event – Disciple Making 101” on Sunday, August 4 at 10:00 a.m. Learn a totally different approach to sharing Christ at this life-changing event. The church is located at 2420 Old Union Road in Dunlap. Everyone is invited to attend. T31

Way of the Cross Baptist Church will be starting Crusaders for Christ again on Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m. for ages 3-18. Kids and teenagers alike will learn about Jesus, eat a hot meal and make lots of great friends. For transportation call (423) 243-7861. T32S33

Music on the Mountain at the Cagle Community Center is set for Thursday, August 15. A covered dish meal will be served at 5:30 p.m., and music by Meredith Goins and Friends will begin at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited. T32S33

Sequatchie Valley Community Band practice is held the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the middle school band room. This is a concert band and open to anyone in the valley or surrounding area who plays a wind or percussion instrument. All experience levels are welcome. Reunion scheduled

A reunion of the descendants of Henry Miller and Martha Pickett Layne is planned for Saturday, August 15 at Mountain Valley Bank’s Summit Room (17114 Rankin Avenue, Dunlap). Doors open at 11:00 a.m., followed by gather and sign-in at 11:30, lunch at noon, and visitation from 12:45 to 2:00 p.m. Clean-up will be from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Families with last names ending in A-G are to bring a meat and drink for their families plus a fruit or salad dish; H-O can bring meat and drink plus appetizer or vegetable dish; P-Z can bring meat and drink plus a dessert. The Sequatchie County Quarterback Club is selling booster seats (reserved seating for 2019 games) for $65 each. Price includes admission to five home games, a drink, popcorn, and one hotdog per game. Does not include playoff games. 2T33-34S34-35

Ewtonville Baptist Church is holding revival with Jerry (Rocky) Bradford, senior pastor of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, August 25 through 28. Sunday services are at 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday through Wednesday services start at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited. T34

State Senator Janice Bowling (R-Tullahoma) will hold an August town hall meeting in Sequatchie County on Tuesday, August 27 at the courthouse in Dunlap from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. In her town hall meetings, Bowling offers assistance with state services and listens to concerns that citizens have for the State Legislature.
