   Valley Fest Road Race and Step Up Sequatchie are partnering together for the first installment of the Step Up Sequatchie Training Series, hosted by Matt Wallace, a certified endurance trainer. Community runs will be held twice a week during the month of April leading up to the Valley Fest Road Race. The runs are free to anyone who registers for the Valley Fest Race. The 2019 Valley Fest Pageant will be held Saturday, April 6 in the Sequatchie County High School auditorium. Entrant categories are ages birth through 16, 17 – 21, and 55 years and above.    BABS will be meeting on Monday, April 8 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fair building in Dunlap. Everyone is welcome to join our nonprofit group and participate in various crafting projects each month. This month’s project is huck weaving, also known as Swedish weaving. This is a form of embroidery worked on specific fabric to work the patterns on. Fabric and some patterns will be provided. A pot luck lunch will be served afterwards. T14

Sequatchie Valley Community Band practice is held the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the middle school band room. This is a concert band and open to anyone in the valley or surrounding area who plays a wind or percussion instrument. All experience levels are welcome. Preschool Screening Day will be held Friday, April 12 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for Sequatchie County children, ages three and four, at Griffith Elementary School (enter through breezeway near the old gym). Vision, hearing, motor, speech and developmental screenings will be given. Parents/guardians are to bring proof of residency (water or electric bill), birth certificate, social security card, shot record and physical on school form, and proof of income. T14S15

  The regular monthly meeting of the Lewis Chapel Community Center is planned for Tuesday, April 16 at 7:00 p.m. EST. Life Force will be there to talk about insurance. Everyone is welcome to attend. T14S15

Sequatchie County Retired Teachers will meet Tuesday, April 16 at noon at the Ewton Community Annex. For more information, call Carolyn at 949-4276. T15S16

   Music on the Mountain at the Cagle Community Center is set for Thursday, April 18. A meal will be served at 5:30 p.m., and music with the Agee family will begin at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited. T15S16

A Coal Miners reunion will be held Saturday, April 20 at Whitwell City Park, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish, comfortable chair and pictures. A group picture will be taken before eating at noon.T15-16S16

  Easter sunrise service at Flat Mountain Baptist Church will be held at 7:00 a.m., followed by breakfast, then Sunday school and a worship service. Pastor David Burgess invites everyone to attend. T16
