    The monthly meeting of the Fredonia Community Center will be held Tuesday, June 12 at 6:00 p.m. This meeting will include the regular business meeting, as well as preparing for a candidate forum to be held on the following dates: July 10, candidates for sheriff; July 17, road superintendent candidates; and July 24, candidates for county executive, circuit court clerk and trustee.   • Choir practices set for July Fourth service

    Community choir practices for the Sequatchie County Fellowship of Churches’ Fourth of July service will be held at First Baptist Church on Wednesdays, June 20 and 27 at 6:45 p.m. and Monday and Tuesday, June 25 and June 26, at 6:00 p.m. The community choir is open to anyone who likes to sing.   • Veterans Park accepting names for wall

    Names are now being accepted for the Sequatchie County Veterans Memorial Park Wall. Honorably discharged veterans, who are past or present residents of Sequatchie County, will need their DD-214 and $100 cash or check. Partial payments can be arranged through the end of September. Signature bricks, T-shirts, sweatshirts and caps will be available for sale. The Veterans office is located at 171 Church Street in Dunlap. Hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. For more information, call 949-9000.

  • Commodities to be distributed

         The Southeast Tennessee Human Resource Agency will be distributing USDA commodities to eligible Sequatchie County residents on Friday, June 29, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the SETHRA office in Dunlap. A commodity card is required to receive commodities on this day. Call the office at 949-2191 to make an appointment to get a card until Monday, June 25, 2018. Proof of income for all household members must be provided to get a commodity card. Eligibility will be based on total household income, not in excess of the State-established maximum percentage of the poverty line for the appropriate household size. In accordance with Federal law and USDA policy, SETHRA is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability. T25

  • Car show planned

         A car show to benefit the Sequatchie County Veterans Memorial Park will be held Saturday, June 30 from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Sequatchie County High School. Entry fee is $20 and there will be door prizes, trophies and plaques. Hot rods, customs, classics and rat rods welcome. Rain date for the event is July 7.
