Signups for Sequatchie County youth baseball, softball and T-ball will be held Saturdays, January 13, 20, 27 and February 3 at Sequatchie County High School from 9:00 a.m. until noon. Fees are $75 for first child, $65 for second, and $55 for third. T-ball fees are $35. Accepted forms of payment are cash, check, and credit/debit card. T2S3

Landmark Pentecostal Church holds services on Sundays at 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and on Wednesday nights at 6:30. The church is located at 6808 Hwy. 28 in Dunlap. Meetings for AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) and NA (Narcotics Anonymous) are held at Dunlap United Methodist Church. AA meetings are Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays at 9:00 a.m. NA meetings are Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. All times are central. The church is located at 1958 Main Street.BTS6

The Education Opportunity Center (EOC) provides free assistance to help residents reach their educational and career goals. Marla King, an education advisor with EOC, who formerly assisted students at the Chattanooga State Sequatchie/Bledsoe campus, will now be scheduling appointments at the Sequatchie County/Dunlap Chamber of Commerce on Thursdays, by appointment, from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. General education courses are offered at both Sequatchie and Bledsoe County High Schools. The center serves Bledsoe, Grundy, Hamilton, Marion and Sequatchie counties, and can assist with adult high school completion programs, choosing a college and a major, filing for FAFSA, searching for scholarships and grants, and overcoming federal student loan default. Bothered by someone’s drinking problem? Alanon may be able to help. Meetings are held on Thursdays at 5:00 p.m. at Dunlap United Methodist Church for those who need help in coping with a friend for family member’s drinking problem. The church is located at 1958 Main Street.BTS6

Sequatchie Youth Soccer Association will hold registration for the spring recreational season on Saturday, February 10 and 17 from 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at the indoor field behind Griffith Elementary. Bring clean shoes for player skills fun. SYSA is a recreational soccer league for ages 4-18. Fee is $55 for the first child, with $5 sibling discounts. A $10 discount is offered for players returning from last season with their uniform. For more information, call Joe at 949-2022 or go to their Facebook page. 2TS6-7

Sequatchie County Friends of the Library (FOTL) will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, February 13 at 4:00 p.m. in the upstairs meeting room of the library. TS6

CHI Memorial’s mobile health coaches will provide mammography screenings in Sequatchie County, sponsored by Sequachee Valley Electric Cooperative, on Tuesday, February 13 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Senior Center, 103 Heard Street. Women should have one screening mammogram between the ages of 35-40. After age 40, a screening mammogram is recommended every year. Women who meet these guidelines who have not had a mammogram in the past 12 months can participate, with or without insurance. Those with insurance need to bring their insurance card and a photo ID. Those without insurance may qualify for financial assistance. If an abnormality is discovered, the diagnostic work up is covered and a financial plan is provided for any follow-up care. The Dunlap Lodge F&AM meets in scheduled regular meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at their Lodge on Cherry Street. The next meeting is scheduled for February 13. Worshipful Master Rex Layne invites all regular Masons to attend.  TS6

The monthly meeting for the Fredonia Community Center will be held Tuesday, February 13 at 6:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come and meet their neighbors and support the community.TS6

The next FCE (Family, Community, Education) meeting at the Cagle Community Center is planned for Tuesday, February 13 at 10:00 a.m. For more information, call the Extension office at 949-2611. These meetings are structured for the entire family. Everyone is invited to attend. TS6

Sequatchie Valley Community Band practice is held the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the Sequatchie County Middle School band room. The next meeting is set for February 13. This is a concert band and is open to anyone in the valley or surrounding area who plays a wind or percussion instrument. All experience levels are welcome. The Daus Community Center will be serving a country breakfast on Saturday, February 17 from 6:00 to 10:30 a.m. for $6 a plate. All proceeds benefit the Southend Volunteer Fire Department. For more information or to volunteer, contact Connie at 949-3296 or Nancy at 949-3586. T7

Sequatchie County UT Extension has formed a new group called Dinner Divas to meet once a month to prepare healthy meals for families. Price for the class is $30 per month and includes groceries to complete three entrees, fellowship with other women, and nutrition and health topics covered. Each participant will take home entrees to freeze and feed their families. The next class is scheduled for Thursday, February 22 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Space is limited. American Legion Post 190, Dunlap, holds its monthly meetings on the last Tuesday of each month. The executive committee meets at 5:00 p.m. and the general business meeting starts at 6:00 p.m. Meetings are held in the Legion Hall on Fredonia Road. All members are encouraged to attend. Any veteran interested in joining the American Legion or learning more about the organization and the benefits of membership is encouraged to attend a general business meeting.
