  • Youth football camp set

    The Sequatchie County Indians youth football camp for ages 5-14 will be held May 1-4 at the high school football stadium from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. each day. Sign-up sheets and a $40 fee can be turned in at the main office at Griffith Elementary or the middle school. Each camper will receive a Sequatchie County Football t-shirt. SCHS Football Coach Adam Caine and his staff will be teaching the fundamentals of football. Deadline to register is Friday, April 28. T17

  • National Day of Prayer at Ewtonville

    The annual arts festival at Griffith Elementary School will be held Thursday, May 11 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. All students will have art displayed in the school hallways. Selected art from each class, kindergarten through fourth grade, will be on display in the school’s former gym. Musical performances in the old gym will be kindergarten and first grade at 4:00 p.m., second and third grade at 4:30 p.m. and a select fourth grade recorder group at 5:00 p.m. The 21st CCLC afterschool program will also have art on display in the gym.   • SCHS is planning graduation week for seniors

    Events planned for Sequatchie County High School graduation week are: May 17 is Baccalaureate in the high school auditorium; May 18 is Honors Night in the gym; and May 19 is graduation ceremonies at the football stadium. All events are held at 6:00 p.m. Seniors who received any type of scholarship (academic or athletic) from a college, the guidance office needs a copy of the scholarship letter by May 5. Regardless if accepting the scholarship(s) offered, the school wants to recognize this achievement at Honors Night.

  • Interior Design Workshop for teens is coming

    UT Extension Family and Consumer Sciences is having a Behind the Scenes in Interior Design workshop for teens in grades 9-12 who are interested in a career in interior design. The three-day workshop will be held May 30 – June 1 in Atlanta. Highlights of the tour will include a tour of the Savannah College of Arts and Design, a tour of the Margaret Mitchell home, a visit to the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center, shopping at Lennox Square Mall, and a painting party.     ABWA offers education grant to young women

    The Dunlap Charter Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association is offering the Stephen Bufton Memorial Education Fund grant to a female student at the junior level or above with a GPA of 3.0 or above at an accredited college or university in the United States. The maximum amount is $2,000.00 and is for one year only, but applicants can re-apply. Funds are to be used for tuition, books or fees. Applications are submitted online and the deadline for completion of all information is May 31, 2017.
