    The Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) provides free assistance to help residents reach their education and career goals. Marla King, an education advisor with EOC, who formerly assisted students at the Chattanooga State Sequatchie/Bledsoe campus, will now be scheduling appointments at the Sequatchie County/Dunlap Chamber of Commerce on Thursdays, by appointment, from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. General education courses are offered at both Sequatchie and Bledsoe County High Schools. The center serves Bledsoe, Grundy, Hamilton, Marion and Sequatchie counties, and can assist with adult high school completion programs, choosing a college and a major, filing for FAFSA, searching for scholarships and grants, and overcoming federal student loan default.     SCHS End of Course Testing Dates announced

    Sequatchie County High School students will participate in first semester End of Course testing, beginning December 1, 2016 with English 9, English 10, English 11 and U.S. History sub-part 1 (writing). Make-up testing for part 1 will be December 2. Testing for the week of December 12-16, 2016 will include English 9, English 10, English 11, U.S. History, Biology, Chemistry, Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry. All students who are enrolled in an End of Course class should plan to be in attendance.     Farmers Market holding first Christmas Bazaar

    A Christmas bazaar, hosted by the Fredonia Mountain Farmers Market, is planned for December 2, 3 and 4 at Wheeler’s Orchard in Dunlap. Friday and Saturday hours are 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Sunday hours are noon until 6:00 p.m. There will be handmade gifts, wood crafts, herbal teas and culinary herbs, fresh Amish-baked goods and food.     Pastor Ron Woolsey to perform December 3

    Ron Woolsey, pastor of the Marshall and Clinton, Arkansas Seventh-day Adventist Churches and speaker and director of The Narrow Way Ministry, will be speaking and performing instrumental music on Saturday, December 3. Woolsey is also the co-founder of Coming Out Ministries, presenting redemptive messages of love, compassion and power to overcome the LGBT culture.     Cagle Fire Dept. to host fundraising breakfast

    The Cagle Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting a fundraising breakfast on Saturday, December 3 from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. at the Cagle Community Center. Adult plates are $6, kids under 10 are $3, and kids under 2 are free with a paying adult. They will be serving eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy, grits, hash browns, pancakes, milk, juice and coffee. T48S48

    December 3 is first Sequatchie County Toy Run

    The first Sequatchie County Toy Run (ride or drive) is planned for Saturday, December 3, beginning at 11:00 a.m., kickstands up at 1:00 p.m. The ride will begin at the Kuntry Korner Market on Cartwright Loop in Whitwell (food provided) and end at the  Sequatchie County Rescue Squad in Dunlap with refreshments. Sponsors for the event are Southern Cruisers Riding Club Chapter 237, Dunlap Lions Club and Sequatchie County Rescue Squad. One unwrapped toy per person.
