Wayne Douglas Wells
Wayne Douglas Wells, 50, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2021 surrounded by his loving family at his home on Brockdell Mountain.
Wayne loved Jesus, was a husband who passionately loved his wife, Melissa, and a father who could not have been more proud of his two children, Logan and Annie. Logan’s wife Kelsie was a perfect addition to their sweet family and Wayne was proud to also call her his daughter. He was known as Pop Pop to his grand, Lucas, who provided many hours of joy and laughter. Family and dear friends always first to Wayne, who loved lending a helping hand and cracking a joke to bring a smile.
Wayne loved baseball, hunting, fishing and touring the back roads on his Indian motorcycle on lazy days with Melissa. Wayne was a graduate of the Class of 1989 at Sequatchie County High School and had over 25 years of service at Bledsoe Telephone Cooperative/BTC Fiber.
Wayne is preceded in death by his mother, Fran “Mae” Wells; grandparents, Alpha Wells and Richard and Henrietta Wells and Virginia (Hershel) Dillon “Granny Dill,” and brother-in-law, Lucas Lee.
Wayne is survived by his adoring wife, Melissa Lee Wells of Pikeville; parents, Ed (Lucy) Wells of Dunlap and Monte (Kathy) Lee of Pikeville; children, Logan (Kelsie) Wells of Dunlap, and Annie Lee Walker of Pikeville; grandson, Lucas James Walker of Pikeville; siblings, Catherine (Hal) Tate of Dunlap, and Eddie Wells of Florida; brother-in-law, Travis (Monica) Lee of Pikeville; special sister-in-law, Bambi (Roger) Williams of Athens, Ohio; several loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be officiated by Danny Lee and Matthew Lee, eulogy given by Jeff Camp and music provided by David Lee and Crystal River.
Visitation was Monday, June 21, from noon – 8:00 p.m. at West End Church of God in Pikeville, (67 Old Spencer Road, Pikeville, TN 37367) and Tuesday, June 22, from noon – 2:00 p.m. with funeral services to follow. Burial followed on the Monte Lee farm at 5638 Brockdell Road, Pikeville, TN 37367.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Wayne’s honor to one of the baseball programs at either Sequatchie County High School or Bledsoe County High School. Donations for either program can also be brought to the visitation and funeral at West End Church of God. Donations can also be made in Wayne’s memory to Sequatchie County Cancer Support Network or Bledsoe County Cancer Care Team.
