Ricky Smith

Ricky Smith, 64, of Dunlap, passed away May 14, 2021 at Hospice Care Center of Chattanooga.

He was a member of Lee Station Baptist Church, where he served as trustee, deacon, and board of directors of House of Hope. Ricky was a loving child of God, member of The Fraternal Order of Police, and loved serving his community. He served 26 years in law enforcement, serving as Dunlap Chief of Police and worked as the director of the 12th Judicial Drug Task Force, and later retired as an investigator with the 12th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. His true passion was firefighting and he was a member of the Dunlap Fire Department for 35 years and retired as fire chief in 2010 due to health reasons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Corene Smith; sisters, Norma Swanger and

Peggy Smith; nephew, Timmy Swanger; and great niece, Tiffani Parton.

He is survived by his wife, Lois; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Brenda (Winfred), Raymond (Jan), and Myron (Jenny); nieces and nephews; great and great-great-nieces and nephews, Lavada (Stan), (Antonio) Hayden, Uriah, Temauri, Lee, Collin, Phoenix, Gwendolyn, Kayleigh, Adam (Trinity) Adin, Jessica, Abbie, Wade, Ciara (Matt), Addyson, Jaxon, Nathaniel, Raven, Cody (Jaron), Trent, Rylan, Wynsten, Rodney (Lacy), Jaci, AJ, Heather (Toby) and children, Crystal, Christopher, Ashley (Charlie) and children, Greta and Jesse; nurse, Shannon, church family, dialysis family, fire department family, law enforcement family, Kathy and Steve, and many, many others who loved him.

Funeral services were held Tuesday May 18 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Bill Wolfe officiating. Burial was in Rankin Cemetery.
