Hoyett Wayne Cross

Hoyett Wayne Cross, 84, passed away December 14, 2020.

He was the son of Wilbur and Marguerite (Smith) Cross and was married to Anna Patricia (Friberg) Cross for 52 years. Hoyett and Anna’s children are H. Walter Cross (Mary Lou), H. Wayland Cross (Jana), and Heather Young (Chris). He was born in Ooltewah, Tennessee and grew up in Chattanooga and Cagle Mountain. He later moved to St. Petersburg and Altamont Springs, Florida, where he spent the majority of his life with Ann. In the later years, they moved to Nashville and this would be their final home on this earth. Hoyett was a devout Seventh-day Adventist and spent the majority of his time studying the Bible and sharing his knowledge. He loved gardening, farming, painting, giving advice on life matters, and always eager to share his proud southern heritage. Hoyett’s fondest memories were where he started his family, working on a dairy farm on Cagle Mountain in Sequatchie County.   

His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the lights of his life. He had a special relationship with each one and looked forward to the visits, calls, photos, and notes. In order of age, his grandchildren are Walter Cross II (Summer), Amber Young, Ashley Cross Koskovich (Tony), Cassee Young Doren (Joel), Carson Cross (Taylor), Chandler Young (Hannah), Wyatt Cross, and Chloe Young. Great-grandchildren in order of age are Brandon Young, Bradley Young, Kyler Cross, Rebekah Koskovich, Timmy Koskovich, Aiden Cross, and Adeline Cross.

Austin and Bell Funeral Home in Greenbrier, Tennessee was in charge of arrangements.
