Lavern Johnson

Lavern Johnson, 77, of Dunlap passed on to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 14, 2016 surrounded by loved ones. 

Lavern was born July 17, 1939 to the late Robert Lee Johnson and his surviving mother Dorthy Johnson age 98, of Dunlap. Throughout his lifetime through self-employment, he built his construction business of 50 years from the ground up. He also taught his children and family how to operate heavy equipment.

Besides his father, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Reece, Jerry, and Stanley Johnson; sister-in-law, Clara Smith Johnson; granddaughter, Tamara Jones; and great-grandson, Conner

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Janie Smith Johnson; four children, Vickie (James) Bradford of Marietta, Georgia, Bobby Lavern (Marie) Johnson of Dunlap, Kevin Johnson of Nashville, Joey (Wanda) Johnson of Dunlap; brothers and sisters, W.L. (Doris) Johnson, Lois Ann Cagle, Ardell (Angie) Johnson, Gene Johnson, Mary Ann Newman, Martha (Bobby) Camp, William Johnson, Wilma Johnson, Roger (Geraldine) Johnson, Leonard (Misty) Johnson, all of Dunlap, Paul (Shirley) Johnson of Cartersville, Georgia; grandchildren, Wesley Bradford, Joshua (Ashley) Bradford, Heath, Vanessa and Adam Johnson, Cynthia (James) Willis, Michael (Wendy) Johnson, Tao and Ty Johnson, and Steven Jones, 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 17 in the funeral home chapel with Brothers, Rocky, James and Wesley Bradford officiating. Burial was in Hixson Cemetery. Grandsons served as pallbearers.
