Edward Hoge

Edward Duwaine Hoge, age 82, of Dunlap, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016 at NHC Healthcare. He was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, Pastmaster of Dunlap Lodge #693 F&AM, Alhambra Shrine, and Cherokee Chapter O.E.S.#301. He was a Veteran of the Korean War and served in The United States Navy on the USS Maddox 731. 

He enjoyed farming and gardening and was an avid reader who loved to entertain his family and friends with stories and jokes. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Dennison and Susie Mae Hoge; sister, Charlene Hoge; and brother-in-law, Bill Carter. 

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Ellen Myers Hoge; two daughters, Myra Sue Corbitt of Dickson and Mary Colleen Reagan of Soddy Daisy; two sons, Dennis (Tammy) Hoge of Chattanooga and David (Elizabeth) Hoge of Lawrenceville, Georgia; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Kayne Carter of Rome, Georgia; brother, Charles (Helen) Hoge of Rome; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sunday, April 9 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tom Tucker officiating. Masonic service followed. Burial was in Chapel Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard.
