Louise Henson Armstrong

Louise Henson Armstrong of Dunlap went home to be with her Heavenly Father on November 26, 2015, surrounded be her loving family. 

She was one of the sweetest persons God out on this earth. She was the last of the “Henson girls”. She was born in Sequatchie County on June 22, 1917 and graduated from Sequatchie County High School. After marrying William E. “Bill” Armstrong, Sr., they resided in Red Bank until his death in 1976. After much persuasion from her sisters, Louise moved back to Dunlap to help her sisters with the family farm. She retired from Memorial Hospital after 20 years of service in the central supply department. She was of the Baptist faith.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Andy and Lula Smith Henson; husband, William E. Armstrong, Sr.; her infant daughter, Anna Louise Armstrong; her daughter and son-in-law, Donna Sue and Ernie Jarvis; her siblings, Una Gerrard, Alma Henson, Leola “Cotton” Ewton, William Riley Henson, Ruby Dobson, and Wilma Bramble; and several nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, William E. “Ed” Armstrong, Jr., and Penny of Dunlap; grandchildren, William Wesley Lee Jarvis of Dunlap, Amanda Armstrong and Emily (Brian) Richmond, all of  Murfreesboro; great-grandchildren, Gabriella Richmond, Owen Richmond, her namesake, Brooklynn Louise Richmond, all of Murfreesboro; several nieces and nephews; and her special Chihuahua companion, Tiny.

Funeral services were held Sunday, November 29 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Jimmy Byrd officiating. Burial followed in Hixson Cemetery.
