Glenn Cookston

Glenn Bernard Cookston, 79, of Dunlap died at his home Monday, November 30, 2015. 

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Paul and Lola White Cookston, Sutton and Edith Campbell, and his beloved Mama (Aunt Ada) Tate with whom he came to live following the death of his mother when a boy of 13 years. He was also preceded in death by brother, Orville and daughter, Brenda Walters.

He retired from DuPont, following 36 years of employment. Glenn was a faithful servant of the Lord and worshipped with the Church of Christ at Bethel. He loved every member as family and they were so good to him.

Survivors are his wife of 57 years, Anita Campbell Cookston; children, Karen (Ric) Godwin, Glenda (Greg) Higgenbottom, Beth (Chris) Pegg, Lacey Cookston, and Stephen (Lindsey) Cookston; grandchildren, Maraa Higgenbottom, Barrett Higgenbottom, Brittany Walters, Tyler Pegg, Josh Pegg, Andrew Pegg, Serenity Cookston and Brooks Cookston; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann Johnston of Santa Rosa, California, Linda (David) Powell of Spokane, Washington, Joan (Preston) Weeks of Dunedin, Florida, and Lynda (Burl) Johnson of Dunlap; step-sisters, Jeanette Gibbs of Dunlap and June Smith of Truman, Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews.  

The family wishes to thank Dr. Davey Daniel and employees of Tennessee Oncology at  Chattanooga for their tender care. You were so good to us!

In Glenn’s memory, contributions may be made to the Cancer Fund or to Bethel Church of Christ missions.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 3 in the funeral home chapel with Minister T. A. Smith officiating and congregational singing conducted by Art Greer. Burial will be in Johnson-Lewis Cemetery.  

The family will receive friends, Wednesday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
