Grady Kerley

Grady Mitchell Kerley, age 93, of Dunlap, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Thursday, May 28, 2015. 

Mr. Kerley was born November 6, 1921 in Sequatchie County, son of the late Gaither William and Rosa Thurman Kerley. 

He was a member of Dunlap Church of God and taught the Young Adults class for many years. He was a Staff Sergeant with the 81st Infantry division of Wildcats. He served during World War II. He received three bronze stars for valor while fighting with the 81st Marine Division.

Mr. Kerley retired from Wheland Foundry after 38 years. He loved hunting, fishing, and was an avid golfer. 

He was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Kerley; and two sisters, Lillie Lewis and Nellie Swanger.

     He is survived by his devoted wife of 72 years, Mary Rogers Kerley; daughter, Judith Kerley; two sons, Larry (Pat) Kerley and Jerry Kerley; three grandsons, whom he loved and was so proud of, Adam Kerley, Jonathan (Kristen) Kerley and Stephen (Kristi) Kerley; 10 great-grandchildren, Emma, Maggie, Abigail, Hannah, Michael, Logan, Alyssa, Andrew, Daniel and Lucus; lots of golfing buddies, several nieces and nephews and many good friends.

     Funeral services were held Monday, June 1 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Kenneth Bolton officiating, assisted by Rev. Caleb Bolton. Burial was in Sequatchie County Memorial Gardens.
