Velma Hackworth

Velma Slatton Hackworth, 99, of Dunlap died at her home on Sunday, April 19, 2015. 

Mrs. Hackworth graduated from Whitwell High School, Class of 1935. She was a longtime member and a very active member of Daus Baptist Church until her health failed her.

Preceded in death by her husband, Hobart Levi Hackworth; grandson, Vance Caldwell; sister, Novella Douglas; brothers, Chris, Frank, Roy and Ted Slatton.

Survivors include two daughters, Reatha (Kenneth) Caldwell of Dunlap and Dona (Bobby) Loyd of  Pikeville, seven grandchildren, Benjamin Loyd, Aaron (Bridget) Loyd, Ethan (Melanie) Loyd, Charles Caldwell, Carlene (Terry) Layne, Rida Smith and Robin Cunningham; eight great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 22 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Tony Cates and Bro. Ray Chism officiating. Burial was in Red Hill Cemetery.
